What is Pediatric Pelvic Physical Therapy?
Pediatric pelvic physical therapists have highly advanced training necessary to diagnose and properly treat children with pelvic floor muscle dysfunction. They specialize in working with children and families experiencing problems such as constipation, bladder and fecal incontinence, among other diagnoses. The goal of PT is to identify the primary problem and develop an individualized program to improve muscle strength, flexibility and movement in the pelvic muscles, as well as identify postural and hip deficiencies. They also incorporate education related to the diagnosis to help manage symptoms.
